Why should I care about another article on fitness, you might wonder. If you ever feel tired and sluggish for no specific reason, then you should keep reading.

Exercising can increase your energy levels. It’s been proven scientifically which I will elaborate on later. Even on days when you don’t feel up to it, doing some kind of physical activity such as walking, strength training or cardio will kick your feel-good endorphins into the stratosphere. Only 10 minutes of activity is needed to feel better. Some other benefits of exercise are:

  • Better quality of sleep
  • Less Stress
  • Increased metabolism and heart health

According to many studies, one of the best ways to beat fatigue and boost energy is to exercise more. The more you move, the more energetic you feel. And this is precisely why you feel so tired after spending a whole day in the office.

The journal of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics reported that inactive people who normally complain of fatigue could increase energy by 20% and decrease fatigue by 65% by simply exercising.

It’s been also proven scientifically that exercise is a much better and healthier choice for boosting energy than stimulants such as coffee, Red Bull, etc.

This can be explained by using basic human physiology knowledge. Mitochondria, which are tiny organs in every cell of the body, are responsible for producing energy. The more you move or exercise, the more mitochondria your body makes to meet your energy needs. The more mitochondria your body has, the bigger the boost to your metabolism and ability to produce energy.

Having said that, here I selected the best exercises for increasing energy levels.

Exercises at Home

Jumping Jack’s – a super easy exercise to perform. No setup required. Even after a few minutes of doing this simple exercise, you’re guaranteed blood rushing through your body and heart rate pumping high. Regardless of your experience and fitness level, this is always a great exercise for boosting your energy.

Exercises at gym

Deadlift – the king of all gym exercises! A true measure of your strength. If you’re good at this exercise, you’ll gain respect in every gym all around the world. This is because this exercise requires almost every muscle in your body to move the weight, hence it is called the true measure of one’s strength.

Exercises outside

Hill/sand sprints – Have you ever seen the physiques of elite sprinters? If not, then you should check them out. They look muscular and very lean, as opposed to long-distance runners who look skinny and weak. This is because a very intense and short training like sprints, for example, builds muscle and makes your body produce anabolic hormones, while long cardio sessions increase catabolic hormones which burn muscles further decreasing your metabolism.

Make sure you perform all three on a weekly basis to maximize the effects!
